Toft, Stamford, Lincs, UK November 2009 Some time in late summer having completed what became 'the lighthouse' commission, I decided to use the theme for the Toft show and got excited at the prospect of building it with my dad and hanging silver stars to catch the light as it shone round the darkened room. Of all the exhibitions we have ever held at toft, less people came than ever before and I felt a sort of low spirit amongst some of those who came, perhaps this is because of the general depressed emotional climate in the UK at the moment. I so wanted to spread a little light and share the feeling of us all being connected rather than alone and seperate, and hope that came across. It was still a very good show with some delightful suprise visits from old friends Delvin and Ozan (those to whom I exchanged my first painting for a pizza in the Ozrocks glory days) and my lovely art student Ezra. My 'number one' fans Lisa and Jo came from Cornwall and Scarborough (thanks for the mosaic trade Jo!) and it was great to see my English teacher after so many years. My thanks to friends and family for their support and the new owners of Toft for their easy professionalism. can't wait for the next event, provisionally this October. Oh, and there was another butterfly in the room for the three days which alighted on the shoulders of different guests as they came and went................ |
