I lived for a short period on a boat in Kyrenia Harbour, Northern Cyprus during the summer of 2002. I loved that harbour and my heart still pounds a bit when I walk around it as memories of that time, intense personal transformation and yet also great serenity, fill me with wonder at how such places can have such energy about them. I was welcomed into that small community of captains, waiters, crew members and harbour officials with open arms and it changed me forever. It took 5 years to get round to painting the harbour and it seemed to come very easily after waiting so long to be realised.
