This painting was sketched from Easton-on-the-hill, near Stamford, looking back over the rolling countryside to Stamford peering out from behind a wood. The horse, was my lovely little blue roan Lilley who I had when I was fourteen. She was a real joy to me and in this painting literally jumps for joy. She was my first love and so with flower names running in my family it seemed a wonderful name for my daughter. Jeff, who now owns the painting, fondly remembers riding out in this area with his own daughter.
