Triumph of the Spirit

A door opens the fruit is eaten, both sides of the coin are shown. Good and evil, life and death, together known.

And so the giftcurse gives and gives,

a seed planted, endless blooms and fades

but in the knowing, in the telling,

everlives.

A splinter in the side that calls attention,

causes suffering, inspires action,

that can be aimed toward the dark or to the light,

and no amount of tending to the wound brings satisfaction.

Pick up your cross and may it be the one to scratch the itch

and faint hope make a pearl.

You who were shown by one who knew

and knew and loved and wished you well upon your journey,

this grave ordeal, this epic quest,

and gave you magic for the time faith falters,

and a legion reasons to give up, give in, clamour in your breast, and yet still you yearn to stand, to put your shoulder to the wheel, pick up your sword or pen or pipe and do your best.
